Working as part of the finance, construction and design consortium MJ Medical supported the development of the Velindre Cancer Centre with health planning, clinical design, and equipment planning inputs throughout the design and construction process. Our services included undertaking visioning workshops with the design and Trust teams, developing the clinical briefing for the new hospital, and supporting the design team in developing the clinical planning and detailed design solution.
We provided comprehensive equipment and technology planning, including the development of the equipment and digitisation strategy, identifying equipment planning principles, procurement management, delivery installation and commissioning approach. In addition we provided design and Radiation Protection Advice for all radiotherapy, imaging and nuclear medicine spaces.
“Our ambition for the design of the new centre has been clear from the outset – we want to build a cancer centre for the future which is the greenest in the UK. We asked for a design that makes people feel good, that is strong, long lasting, flexible and efficient. We have got that – and so much more.”
Steve Ham, Chief Executive of Velindre University NHS Trust
