02-Mar-2016

MJ Medical announces its appointment as the lead health planning adviser for King’s College Hospital Dubai. The 100-bed hospital is the latest healthcare project for the UK-based investment company Ashmore Group, which appointed MJ Medical at the inception stage to advise on the hospital design and build process as well as to provide a wide range of health planning services. The hospital constitutes a major expansion of King’s College Hospital’s operations in the region, which also includes several day care clinics set to launch in Dubai during 2017, as well as its flagship clinic in Abu Dhabi which has been operational since 2014.

“We’re honoured to have the opportunity to contribute to the vision of such a landmark project for Dubai. We’re equally excited to work closely with Ashmore Group and KCH Management on this project, and to witness the fruition of King’s College Hospital Dubai over the next few years.” says Nathaniel Hobbs, Director at MJ Medical.

“By bringing King’s to the region through our flagship clinic and the new upcoming facilities we are truly raising the bar of healthcare in the UAE and choosing the right partners is instrumental to delivering this. We have the full support and backing of both the UAE and UK governments, and are pleased to be adding MJ Medical into the fold, to help us, along with our partners and investors, deliver a world-class, state of the art facility that will meet the growing demands of the UAE’s residents and visitors alike.” says Ahsan Ali, Head of Business Operations and Healthcare, Ashmore Group Plc.

As part of its services, MJ Medical reviewed Ashmore Group’s revenue and cost model and functional programme for the hospital, from which it developed the clinical design brief, including the necessary clinical and operational flows. The healthcare consultancy established a schedule of accommodation based on the determined model of care and planned activity, and worked with King’s College clinicians to ensure it was fit for purpose. MJ Medical will continue to provide advice and support through the design process.

The hospital will be fully integrated with King’s College Hospital’s delivery model and a significant proportion of its workforce will include experienced UK clinicians. The hospital will offer four main specialties – Paediatrics, Endocrinology, Orthopaedics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology – as well as other acute and general medical services.
