MJ Medical appointed as healthcare advisors for remote hospital in Falklands

Leading healthcare consultancy MJ Medical has been appointed to provide master planning and healthcare planning services for King Edward VII Memorial Hospital on the Falkland Islands.

They will be supporting the UK team at global engineering and architecture firm Ramboll , who are the Framework supplier for capital investment programmes for the Falkland Islands Government and have operated in the Falkland Islands for over 30 years.

Both companies bring considerable experience developing healthcare projects in remote island locations.  Ramboll’s strong expertise in designing for manufacture and assembly (DfMA) is a significant asset to the project which will reduce construction programme, enhance building performance and overcome skilled labour shortage on the island.

“We are excited to continue our long-term collaboration with MJ Medical, supporting the Falkland Islands Government and islanders in futureproofing their hospital through our combined experience and technical expertise “ says Bonnie Chu, UK Director of healthcare for Ramboll.

MJ Medical brings 20 years of experience working on island hospital development projects, including the New Healthcare Facilities Programme in Jersey, Princess Elizabeth Hospital and Mignot Memorial Hospital in Guernsey and the Turks and Caicos Islands Hospital.

As part of its role, MJ Medical is currently supporting Ramboll and working with the Falkland Islands Government to develop a masterplan for the hospital’s growth, modernisation, and service enhancement for the next 10-years.

“We’re pleased to be working with such a talented team on such an exciting project and look forward to bringing our experience and expertise to the table,” says Dan Gibson, director at MJ Medical.
